Europe Day 9 May - Why it's worth celebrating - The  European Union Explained.

The European Union motto
 
The motto of the Union is ‘united in diversity’. Like the other symbols, the motto clearly highlights the sense of European identity that is the birthright of every citizen of the Union, over and above the actual European Union. The preamble to the Treaty goes some way towards interpreting the meaning of the motto set out in Article I-8 of the Constitutional Treaty. Let us consider the two words used in the European Union motto: ‘united’ and ‘diversity’.
 

The term 'united in diversity' refers to Europe, its values and its cultural, religious and humanist heritage. These are values that place two protagonists at the centre of social life: on the one hand, humans and their rights and, on the other, the respect for law. For the purposes of interpreting the motto, the most illuminating passage of the preamble is to be found in the fourth recital, which states that the peoples of Europe, while remaining proud of their own national identities and history, are determined to transcend their former divisions and, united ever more closely, to forge a common destiny.

DÍA DEL ORGULLO GAY

El 28 de junio de cada año celebramos el Día Internacional del Orgullo LGBT, también conocido como Día del Orgullo Gay, que conmemora los disturbios que se produjeron el 28 de junio de 1969 en Stonewall, un pub ubicado en el barrio neoyorquino de Greenwich Village, en los que la comunidad LGBT luchó contra la persecución de los homosexuales iniciando un movimiento que se extendería desde Estados Unidos a todo el mundo. DÍA MUNDIAL CONTRA LA DEPRESIÓN

📅 El próximo 13 de enero se conmemora el Día Mundial de la Lucha contra la Depresión , una jornada destinada a sensibilizar, informar y visibilizar una de las enfermedades mentales más frecuentes y con mayor impacto en la vida de millones de personas en todo el mundo. La depresión no es un simple estado de ánimo bajo, sino un trastorno de salud mental serio que afecta a personas de todas las edades y contextos y que puede causar discapacidad si no recibe la atención adecuada.
