The data is in: We can
help women live violence-free
What we know: An estimated one in three women will
experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. But
high-quality studies have shown that community-based programs focused
on prevention can be both impactful and cost-effective, with
far-reaching benefits to families and entire communities.
What we are doing: We have
expanded our list of recommended nonprofits to include two
organizations focused on preventing violence against women and girls.
·The Center for
Domestic Violence Prevention (CEDOVIP) is a Ugandan
nonprofit that implements community-driven, cost-effective
programming that discourages violence against women and girls and
strengthens local prevention and response efforts.
·Breakthrough Trust develops
school curricula and mass-media campaigns designed to reach girls and
boys between the ages of 11-25 and change deep-rooted cultural norms
that perpetuate gender-based discrimination and violence.
While the data underscores the measurable
success of community-led programs in reducing violence against women
and girls, it's also crucial to recognize the profound, enduring, and
less tangible impact these initiatives can have on everyone involved.
With your help, our recommended nonprofits can continue to cultivate
communities where respect, equity, and understanding can flourish.
·November 25th is
International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and
the start of 16 Days of Activism Against
Gender-based Violence. Make a tax-deductible
donation to one of our new recommended nonprofits— Breakthrough Trust
or Center for Domestic
Violence Prevention — to help end violence
against women and girls.
The only
thing more high-impact than tennis champion Marcus Daniell’s
serve is his philanthropy and his mission to encourage other
athletes to give. As an Olympic
bronze medalist with five ATP titles, Marcus realized he had a
unique opportunity to help the less-fortunate not only by
donating but by using his platform to spread the word. In this
episode, Charlie and Marcus talk about treating all Earth’s
creatures with respect, whether human, furry, feathered, or
finned…
